Analysis of risk behavior-related Tweets
・Tweets related to actions of high infection risk were extracted and compared with positive COVID-19 cases. Tweets including the following keywords were subject to analysis:
-Drinking session, End-of-year Party, Christmas Party, New Year Party (Respectively 飲み会、忘年会、クリスマスパーティ、新年会 in Japanese)
-Karaoke (カラオケ in Japanese)
-Fitness center (ジム in Japanese)
-Hanami (“Flower-viewing”, 花見 in Japanese)
-Barbecue (バーベキュー in Japanese)
・The situations within Tokyo and Osaka regions were compared with each other, using location information from Twitter user profiles.
Summary
・The rise in the number of excursion-related tweets is continuing. This pattern in consistent with that after the termination of state of emergency declaration on June 21st, 2021.
-Tweets related to karaoke is starting to decrease after a sharp increase after the termination of the state of emergency.
-Tweets related to drinking sessions is continuing to increase, reaching the level of March this year.
-The patterns were mostly similar between Tokyo and Osaka regions. Osaka saw relatively higher numbers of Karaoke-related tweets.
-Check-ins in the Swarm app1 also maintained levels similar to that during July of 2021. Tokyo saw a slight decrease in numbers.
1 A social networking service using location information. Users “check in” their locations, thereby recording the places they visit as well as their movement paths.
